Five End-of-the-Year Rituals to Ring in the New Year!

December 24, 2017

Can I just say, "WHEW! WHAT A CRAZY YEAR 2017 HAS BEEN?!?!?!" Holy cow. It went by so quick, yet so many things have happened, good things and bad things, HUGE shifts happening to every aspect of our lives, transformations right and left, and let's just say, the person who I was on January 1, 2017 is a completely different person than the person behind the screen typing this blog.

Now, these are couple of rituals that I always do as we wrap up the year and start anew! So join me in starting 2018 right!

1) Cleaning Your House / Room
Clearing physical things that surround you is a great start! We tend to accumulate so many things through out the year, it's time to clear them out! (I am totally guilty of just having sooo much clutter so you're not the only one! I promise!) Even through lame excuses of not having enough time in the day, just start by finding 10 things to clear out right now, large or small! GO! GO! GO! Feel a little lighter? Good! Now go do some more! Dust off the dust that has accumulated in 2017 and welcome 2018 with a clean house!

2) Smudging
After you have cleared out the physical things around you, it is now time to clear out the energy around you! I usually start off by smudging with sage to clear out the negative energy, followed by sweet grass to bring in positive vibes and good fortune! To learn how to smudge a space yourself, be sure to check out my blog post, Cleanse Your Body and Space with the Art of Smudging, where it shows step-by-step instructions toward a light-filled room! ✨

3) Letting Go / Cutting Cords
So you got the physical things and surrounding energy cleared out, now let's begin to focus on yourself. Throughout the year, you have encountered many human beings that were both good and bad. And many of us tend to grasp on to the people who have negatively influenced them throughout the year. Well, guess what? It's time to LET. IT. GO. Most likely, if you are constantly thinking of that particular someone who have wronged you, you have a negative energetic cord that connects both of you. Here is a perfect blog post, Energetic Cords – What are They & How to Remove Them, by my dear friend, Susan Olney, to help you with the process of removing the unnecessary negative energetic cords once and for all! (Aside from being an AMAZING medium, Susan's energy healing sessions are SPECTACULAR. And the awesome thing is that she will do all of this distant, so whether you pull a muscle while being chased by cheetahs in Zimbabwe or slip and fall while trying to greet penguins in Antarctica, if you have a phone and service, she's the one to call!)

4) Meditation

Now that we have cleared all the gunk both physically and emotionally, take a moment now, to go inward by meditating. Meditation is a great way to bring your focus to the present moment, here and now. All the things we have focused above on this blog was about the past, clearing and letting go of the past. Feel the power of now and the powerlessness the past has on you. The past is already done, nothing can be changed; but the now, is the jumping off point in which all things are possible. As you meditate, begin focusing on your breathing. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale the beautiful energy that now surrounds you. Exhale all the negative energy that have been accumulating inside you. If you are interested in reading more about meditation and perhaps begin to include this ritual in your daily life, check out my blog post, Meditation: A Beginner's Guide.

5) Setting Intentions
Last but not least, it is now time to set positive momentum to bring in the new year by setting new intentions! Get a clean sheet of paper and begin to write what you would like to focus in the year 2018. If you feel like you are at a dead end, try some meditation to calm your mind and ask your soul what your focus should entail. The first thing that comes up in your mind is usually the one! Don't doubt it and write it down! Writing down makes your intentions that much physical and therefore you believe it more, the energy lines up as the Universe orchestrates the manifestations, and BOOM! It manifests! You are a being who came forth into this physical world to joyfully expand and enjoy the manifestations along the way, so anything is possible!

As we wrap up 2017, I am leaving you with "This Is the New Year" by A Great Big World. Such a perfect song I listen to every year when the year comes to a close. Reminding myself that through all of the stressful times, sad times, and happy times, here I am, standing with my own two feet. So raise your head high because you survived 2017. We tend to take life for granted but think about all the people who didn't survive 2017. No matter how amazing or horrible this year might have been, you persevered and survived. And you will continue to thrive.

All in all, know that all the changes that are happening around you is all for the highest good. You are here to explore the joyous expansion of your soul. Expansion cannot happen without change. You are supported by the infinite universe that surrounds you, always. 24/7. Ride the flow of life and enjoy the journey along the way to wholeness. All is well.

From my family to yours, wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season! Get ready 2018, WE'RE COMING FOR YA! 😉
