5 Simple Ways to Ground Yourself

Ever had those days when you're spaced out, everything you do is clumsy, and feel like everything around you is jumping out at you? It's not uncommon and I'm sure we've had "one of those days." Most likely, you are suffering the symptoms of ungroundedness. Don't worry, it's not contagious, you don't need to go to the doctor, or get a medication at your local CVS for these symptoms. I have 5 simple solutions to help you cure the ungroundedness and focus better in your every day life!
Solution #1: Walking Barefoot / Connecting With Nature
We are living beings, inhabiting the Earth. However, being caught up with so much of what goes on in our daily lives, we begin to disconnect more and more with nature. And many of the inventions that has helped us tremendously also is detrimental. Car tires, shoes, roads, and houses are made from non-conductive materials, which means that your energy cannot connect with the Earth and you have sort of a short circuit, that's where the ungroundedness occurs. Wood, asphalt, and rubber are some of the materials NOT conductive so the best solution is to go outside in the dirt/grass barefoot and feel your energy latch onto Mother Earth! Perhaps go to the beach, take off your sandals, and enjoy the powerful energy of the ocean that covers 70% of our planet. Or go take a walk in a park near your house and just appreciate the delicious air that supplies your well-being! And just remember to stay in the present moment as you ground yourself! No technology, no work, no family, no friends. Just you and this joyous moment.
Solution #2: Utilizing Crystals

Any crystals that are great for your root/base chakra is also great for grounding! Whether that is a black tourmaline (image to the right), red garnet, hematite, etc., you can go to a local crystal/metaphysical shop and find the crystal right for you! For more information on crystals, check out my previous blog post: Five Must-Have Crystals: A Beginner's Guide.
Solution #3: Gardening
Recently, I don't know why but I have suddenly been interested in gardening and have been gardening everyday! Feeling the soil with your bare hands allows me to connect to Mother Earth and seeing a tiny seed manifest into a food that then nourishes my body really has helped me learn about patience and the connection I (we all) have with the Earth. Solution #4: Eating Grounding Foods
In correlation to gardening, eating grounding foods are another alternative in grounding yourself. Apart from all kinds of food, grounding foods are vegetables that are grown in the soil. Carrots, beets, potatoes, ginger, onions, and garlic are just some of the root vegetables that can aid in grounding yourself.
Solution #5: Meditate
Just 10 minutes, every day, sitting by yourself, focusing on your breathing. Meditate in the morning to kick start your day. You will feel calm, focused, and most of all, grounded throughout your day! Staying in the present, moment by moment, allows your focus to not wander into the past or the future but the now.
Of course, there are many more ways to ground yourself but I tried to condense them to the most simplest of them all, for all you lazy people out there! (Me included! HA!)
Today, I leave you with Enya's "Orinoco Flow" and imagine yourself, sailing away, and walking on the shores, as you ground yourself. Also, I don't know about where you live but it is RIDICULOUSLY HOT where I live and so I'm just gonna imagine myself on that shore, enjoying the sea breeze! Stay cool and hydrated for those in Southern California!
